I’ve written about Blurb.com in the past as one of my favourite sites. In their own words, Blurb is:
a company and a community that believes passionately in the joy of books – reading them, making them, sharing them, and selling them. So we put our minds together, and developed a creative publishing service simple and smart enough to make anyone an author – every blogger, cook, photographer, parent, traveler, poet, pet owner, marketer, everyone. (This means you.)
An interesting email dropped into my inbox from them a few weeks ago. Until recently only people with a US-based bank account could make a profit from their books, but they’ve now introduced an “International Set Your Price Program”. It’s pretty simple:
1. Make a book and order at least one copy.
2. Enroll in their free Set Your Price program.
3. Decide how much profit you want to make per book.
4. Announce your book to your network using the Bookstore email announcements.
5. Earn money when people buy your book.
While I don’t expect to make any money from my wedding or honeymoon albums, this could be a great idea for schools or organisations to produce yearbooks and make a slight profit from them, whilst also only producing exactly the quantity needed.
